·        Tenness of teens - bundling

·        Counting on and counting back by ones

·        Skip counting by twos and tens

·        Sharing concept – equal groups

 

Year One – Number

·        All of what is covered in prep

·        Skip counting by twos, fives & tens from alternating starting points/numbers

·        Hundreds charts – patterns

·        Place value of numbers 1-100

·        Ordering and making numbers (13 and 31)

·        Counting on and back from the largest number and from any starting point

·        Partitioning numbers

·        Building tens (3 & 7 makes 10, 13 & 7 makes 20)

·        Fact families – addition/subtraction

·        Doubles and near doubles up to ten (double ten to make 20)

·        Odd and even numbers

·        Sharing and making groups

·        Writing & matching addition number sentences

·        Explore the concept of difference – using 100s chart

·        Simple number patterns

·        Finding ½ of one (1/2 of one apple)

 

Year Two – Number

·        Skip count by threes and fours

·        Count to 1000

·        Place value to 1000

·        Division as sharing, including with remainders

·        Arrays for multiplication/repeated division

·        Finding ½ of a group

·        Fact families for repeated addition and multiplication/missing addends

·        Doubles and near doubles past ten

·        Number patterns (more complex)

·        Money as context for addition and subtraction (not cents).

·        Open number lines addition and subtraction

·        Mental computation strategies for addition & subtraction (supported with the 100s chart)

 

Year Three – Number

·        Money as context for addition and subtraction

·        Multiplication – including factors to 100

·        Skip counting and patterns by all numbers/patterns 1-10

·        Division – repeated subtraction & shared between

·        Fact families – division and multiplication

·        Place value to 10 000 and to hundredths

·        Multiply by fours is double (x2), double (x2)

·        Multiply by sixes is x3, x2

·        Mental computation strategies for addition & subtraction (less support with the 100s chart compared to grade two)

·        Sharing with remainders

·        Rounding numbers and money

·        Making change from $10

·        Fractions with a numerator greater than one

 

Year Four – Number

·        Area model for multiplication

·        Division – representing the remainders (fraction, decimal) by one digit divisors

·        Fractions of groups – numerators greater than one

·        Place value – thousandths (time, capacity, volume, mass, length)

·        Formal addition/subtraction algorithm

·        Recall multiplication/division facts to 10

·        Addition/subtraction simple fractions (use diagrams)

·        Sharing 100 - percentages

 

Year Five/Six

·        Multiply 3 digit x 2 digits including decimals (money)
