Lesson Planning
1. What is the concept you want the students to understand?
2. What activity will allow development of this concept?
3. Assessment. How will you know who knows what by the end of the lesson?
4. What are the next steps?
Keep the students engaged. Don't allow them any down time.
Introduce the activity, then teach one on one or one on small group.
REMEMBER: People learn by doing, not by listening.
Scaffold the activity. Allow easy entry to the activity, but getting more difficult.
Provide supports for the students so students can undertake the activity on own or in small groups. Support such as manipulatives, diagrams, number lines, hundreds charts, etc. or have students make their own (make a number line from -20 to 20 through zero).
